Abstract

This work presents modern local governments in Poland and selected  European countries. This paper shows the local power structure, organizations and their competences as well as tasks and Government control. There are also indicated values of local democracy of the European Charter of local self government and legal problems of territorial self – government in Italy, France,
Germany, Spain, Austria and Belgium.
