AN INNOVATIVE AND KNOWLEDGE-BASED ECONOMY OF THE EUROPEAN UNION IN THE CONTEXT OF “EUROPE 2020” STRATEGY

“Europe 2020” strategy, which was adopted by the European Commission after extensive consultation with the Council of the European Union is a planning document that opens a new chapter in building a better, transparent, closer to the citizen Europe. The strategy is very ambitious and detailed thoughtful project on a European scale aimed at the restoration of Europe to continue to “track” the dynamic socioeconomic development. Author in this article raises fundamental issues about current
level of innovation, education and lifelong learning and characteristics of a European digital society. The author points out in detail what actions within the strategy will be taken by EU institutions and Member States in the sphere of the future development of the European economy. Three guiding projects: “Union of Innovation”, “Youth on the move”, and “European Digital Agenda”. These are the main lines of action for the knowledge-based economy and innovation that puts before us, the European Union in the next decade.
