INFLUENCE OF HUMAN CAPITAL QUALITY ON THE PROCESS OF AGRICULTURAL FARM MODERNIZATION

The objective of this study is assessing the influence that human capital quality, has on the agricultural farm modernization process. The study was conducted amongst 62 owners of farmlands. The choice of control group was deliberate. The group comprised of farmers, who in last 5 years have had their farms modernized, or have been getting financial support given under CAP. The study has shown that vocational qualifications majorly influence their willingness to use subsidies, provided by EU and accordingly, the agricultural farm modernization process. What differentiated the study group from other polish farmers, was their level of formal education, as well as possessed agricultural qualifications. The group’s farmers were also relatively young people. As much as 84% of respondents are farmers not older than 45. As part of the investment, they have been purchasing
more efficient agricultural equipment. These investments with no doubt, will prove effective in improving economic situation of these farms, and will strengthen their position on market.
