Human capital might translate into benefits for regional development but can also be the cause of social inequalities. The article presents the results of modeling socio-economic determinants (using GLS) of the quality of education in Poland for all population of rural counties. The analyzes aims at testing the hypothesis that exogenous socio-economic factors are crucial for the effectiveness of the educational process in rural areas. The negative influence of center-periphery continuum on the education quality has been proved.
