Abstract

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are dominant in Polish economy. However, they encounter barriers in knowledge transfer and knowledge management, which lead to reduced innovation and competitiveness level. The paper attempts to assess current state for education sector. The evaluation is based on surveys conducted in 2016 on large group of SMEs languages schools in Lower Silesia. The results showed, that awareness of knowledge transfer and knowledge management for the majority of SMEs are not professionally treated. SMEs show lack of interest and they are not convicted about benefits from knowledge transfer to improve processes. Results are related to A. Dereń research, which analysed companies from other sector in terms of intellectual capital management.
