DEVELOPMENT CONDITIONS OF FARMS SPECIALIZED IN PLANT PRODUCTION BASED ON THE EXAMPLE OF WARMIA AND MAZURY VOIVODESHIP

Abstract

In the region of Warmia and Mazury voivodeships improvement of agrarian structure is noticeable and there is a growing number of large-scale farms. Sustainable part of those farms specializes production only in plant production. The study was conducted among 48 owners of farms, where 2/3 part of standard farm production was plant production, in order to discover their development conditions. Thesis's theoretical part presents production potential features analysis of voivodeships farms in comparison to national data. The study showed that the main development opportunity was financial help from European Union while on the other hand the strongest development barrier was high prices of production factors. Regarding to the study economical conditions were far more crucial for farm development. In the near future farm owner are willing to invest in modern agriculture machinery. The majority of respondents doubt profitable running of their farms in the future without financial help from European Union.
