EDUCATION AS ONE OF THE KEY AREAS OF EUROPE 2020 STRATEGY

Abstract

“Europe 2020 - A strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth” is a long - term program of socio- economic development of European Union (EU) for 2010-2020.

The present study is to examine what is the course of realization of the indicators appointed in Europe 2020 Strategy which concern the educational targets in Poland and in other European Union countries. Moreover, the study is to set trends in this field and to give the evaluation of the accuracy of education indicators as well as to forecast the time necessary to implement the targets in the European Union as a whole and in Poland. In the present day, it is essential to monitor the actions in this field because it is the education which contributes to economic growth of countries and regions. The sample period is 2002-2015 and the target values defined for 2020.
