Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of infrastructure spending on the Sustainable Development of Siedlce. An attempt was made to verify the hypothesis of a positive impact of infrastructure investment on the Sustainable Development of the City of Siedlce. In order to achieve this purpose an analysis of selected investments by the city of Siedlce in 2010-2015 was performed. There was also conducted a study (free interview) with the spokesman of the City of Siedlce, the aim of which was to verify whether the individual investments satisfy the conditions for sustainable development. The research results indicate that the largest investments were made by the city of Siedlce with the idea of sustainable development. Worth mentioning is the fact that the respondent pointed all prerequisites for sustainable development both in the case of each of the mentioned investment, as well as the reasons that it is worthwhile to approach this issue complementary which means to verify if all the decisions as a whole are consistent with the provisions of the Development strategy. The hypothesis was therefore positively verified. This means that the money spent on infrastructure in Siedlce bring social, economic and environmental benefits.
