The purpose of this paper is to present the scope and forms of activities of SSE, which involves the characterisation of inititives aiming to improve the quality of living conditions in the rural areas, to activate the residents and create opportunities for local development. This work is based on the analysis of multiple scientific journals, popular literature and a number of studies. The data used in this research were collected during individual interviews with representatives of regional SSE's, as well as deduced from case studies. All the activities performed by SSE to enhance entrepreneurship are extremely important and valuable. If SSE's continue with their diversified initiatives and support, the positive social and economical effects will cumulate.
