THE MEANING OF BIOFUELS IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURE

Abstract

The aim of the paper was to present biofuel production in the aspect of sustainable development of agriculture. The analysis included data on the quantity of produced and sold liquid biofuels and biocomponents, the forecast of growth of consumption of motor fuels and biodiesel, as well as the value of NCW. The forecast of market development of biofuels shows that the production of ethanol and esters of vegetable oils will increase by 2030, which will contribute to the development of this sector. However, the prerequisite is the implementation of the National Plan for the Indicator, i.e. increasing the share of biofuels in the energy values of the country. Biofuels production provides economic benefit, increasing the demand for agricultural products. At the same time it poses environmental, social and economic threats. It seems, that the production of second generation biofuels is more useful in the aspect of sustainable development of agriculture.
