New Public Management is a new way of leading and organizing work in the public institutions. Implementation of this solution requires changes in the managing process connected with all organizational resources. The main principle of New Public Management is knowledge and appropriate management of this resource. The aim of the article is to describe chosen methods of New Public Management and knowledge management. The article consists of a theoretical and empirical part. Both parts of the publication were created using the qualitative method, theoretical background being the result of the analysis of existing materials - literature on the subject. The empirical part is a report on pilot studies. Research was carried out through interviews with public administration employees. The main hypothesis put in the research is: Public institutions use knowledge management processes and they implement specific processes in the field of NPM.
