Abstract

The aim of the article is to present the concept of sustainable development identical with the development of civilization. This concept is recognized in politics and in the consciousness of Europeans as a social value. It also pointed to philosophical Kantian views that are an inspiration for the emergence of the idea of sustainable development. It also presents the implementation of the assumptions of this idea on the example of air purity in Poland. The main conclusion arising from the considerations is the statement that the implementation of the concept of sustainable development in practice differs from its assumptions and is not consistent with the ethical standards contained in it. This conclusion was confirmed by the example of air purity in Poland. The analysis of the topic shows that there is a need to shape public awareness and promote ethical standards that reinforce the implementation of the idea of sustainable development in practice.
