Abstract

The main aim of this article is to show the role and significance of the benefit from the state programme “Family 500+” in the decisions of the households.
The main source of information was an original questionnaire. It consisted of three parts: an introduction, problem and demographic questions. Problem questions concerned the present financial situation of households, allocation and spending of the money from the programme. The research was conducted in the period between January and February 2017 and it included 120 people.
The obtained information suggests that households were trying to save at least a part of the received amount, whereas the remaining amount was used to purchase essential products and cover current expenses. In particular, the received money was allocated to buy food products. Some of it was allocated for accumulation – savings. Significant amounts were spent on the purchase of home appliances and home electronics. Many respondents did not resign from their jobs for the benefit of keeping the household and raising children despite the fact that at present it is a more and more popular trend.
