Abstract

The article explores the essence and significance of academic integrity in higher education. It analyzes the main principles of academic integrity, the negative consequences of its violation, and provides recommendations for fostering a culture of integrity among students. Special attention is given to the role of teachers, university administration, and modern technologies in upholding academic integrity.

An analysis of key regulatory and legal documents from Ukraine concerning the concept of «academic integrity» is provided, including the Law of Ukraine «On Education» and the Code of Academic Integrity. The main directions of activity of the international organization International Center for Academic Integrity (ICAI) are identified.

A critical analysis of issues related to the implementation of academic integrity codes is presented, including: uncertainty of standards and criteria, technical and legal challenges in defining plagiarism, cultural differences and misunderstanding of integrity principles, bureaucratization of the process, improper use of control systems, psychological aspects and stress, difficulties in implementing policies at all levels. The main strategies for ensuring academic integrity among students during their university education are outlined.
